Our Code Of Conduct
The Wanderers NY Cricket Club is an inclusive, social club open to players of all backgrounds, genders, nationalities, and skill levels. We play competitively but are respectful on and off the field to each other, to other teams, to umpires, and to the communities in which we play.
To that end, we commit to:
- Treating fellow teammates, opponents, and officials with respect on and off the field
- Never engaging in physical or verbal abuse and not tolerating that behavior if witness teammates or opponents engaging in it
- Never cheating
- Displaying good sportsmanship whether we win or lose
- Always complying with the rules of the game and the instructions of the on-field captain
- Showing up to games at the specified meeting time and staying until the end
- Attending all training and games we sign up for and informing the captain and / or the selection committee in advance in the event of our absence due to extenuating circumstances
- Encourage our teammates on the field, celebrate each other’s victories, and share in defeat
- Speaking English on the field so we are inclusive of people from all backgrounds
- Treat facilities, club, and teammates’ equipment with the utmost respect and help packing up the equipment after use
- Help with chores including setting up the field, scoring, umpiring when needed, and other duties
- Paying club and match fees on time
- Refrain from making public comments that represent the clubs views without express permission from the Club President
- Never disparaging our teammates or the club. If we have concerns, we will escalate to the team captain or the Club President and seek to resolve the issues with mutual respect
Violations of this code of conduct will result in suspension from games and potential exclusion.
